Dorothy D. Logan, 81, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Okmulgee, Okla., on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1926, a daughter of Lester A. and Myrtie L. (Bagley) Ziern. She married Zedward O. Logan in Saint Louis County, Mo., on Feb. 22, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1988.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Rob Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Thompson of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Julie Cramer and husband John of Salem and Stephen L. Thompson and wife Krista of Carlyle; four great-grandchildren, Justin Cramer, Jaimee L. Cramer, Alexa R. Gent and Riley Thompson; and several cousins.
Her parents; her husband; and her aunt, Bertha Kellogg preceded her in death.
Dorothy owned and operated Crest Cabinetry with her husband for over 20 years.. She was a member, and elder, Sunday school teacher and volunteer at First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon, was president of PTA-Central Institute for the Deaf, and was treasurer for the Homebuilders Association for nine years.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to Parkinson's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
