Peggy J. Barr

Peggy J. Barr, 64, Centralia, and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at her home.

She was born in Mt. Vernon on March 21, 1944, a daughter of Ralph Russell and Mildred (House) Russell. She married Michael Barr on Aug. 5, 1961, and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. She worked at Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory, then at Martins IGA Deli Department in Mt. Vernon and later at Boro-wiaks IGA Deli Department in Centralia.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Don Verhines officiating. Inter-ment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Michael Barr of Centralia; daughter, Michelle VanDeveer and husband Tracy of Centralia; two grandsons, Blake and Tyler VanDeveer of Centralia; one granddaughter, Jordan Van-Deever of Centralia; one great-grandson, Brylan Van-Deever of Centralia; two sisters, Sharon Karch and husband Paul of Centralia and Brenda McGarvey and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Peggy was a member of Casey Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
