Javon Joshua Howard

Javon Joshua Howard, 14, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Chicago on Aug. 4, 1993, the son of Eric and Lavena (Brunson) Howard. He was an eighth grade student at Casey Junior High School.

Javon is survived by his father, Eric of Chicago and mother, Lavena of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Eric Jr., DeShon, and Marcus Howard, all of Mt. Vernon; maternal grandparents, Angelo Brunson and Vivian Brunson of Chicago; paternal grandparents, Willie Howard and Ann Howard; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Friday at Casey Junior High School with the Bishop Henry Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Oak-wood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. service time at Casey Junior High School.

Javon was a member of Pil-grim Rest Baptist Church.

A memorial fund has been established at the First State Bank of Dix to help with expenses. Contributions may be made at the bank, 900 South 42nd Street or mailed to P.O. Box 1750, or will be accepted by the Jackson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 912, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
