Mary Ellen Owens

Mary Ellen Owens, 54, Blu-ford, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tues-day, July 22, 2008, at her home.

She was born in Harvard, Ill., on June 8, 1954, a daughter of Ray-mond and Helen (Falgenhauer) Zimmerman. She married Steve E. Owens on July 24, 1971, in Harvard.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Revs. Gale Breeze and Bob Southerd officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary is survived by her husband, Steve E. Owens of Bluford; two daughters, Vickie King and husband Donald of Centralia and Cherye Curlutu and husband Ross of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Joshua and Shelby Curlutu and Colton and Alexis King; three sisters, Betty Rygh of South Beloit, Barbara Sargent and husband Marshall of Harvard and Nancy Exner of Phillips, Wis.; brother, Edward Zim-merman and wife Rosemary of Crystal Lake; mother-in-law, Mary Spackey of Salem; brothers-in-law, Rick Owens and wife Debra of Charlotte, Tenn., and Larry Wilson and wife Rhon-da of Salem; sisters-in-law, Sandra Wilson of Salem and Cheryl Braden and husband Harmon of Wayne City; friends, Peggy Hoium and Donna Sills; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; brother, Fank Zimmerman; niece, Dawn Rygh; great-nephew, Eric; and brother-in-law, Ron Nexster preceded her in death.

Mary worked as a sales clerk at Big Lots for 10 years and was a member of East Hickory Hill Baptist Church
