Verdell Harre
Mrs. Verdell Harre of Covington, departed this life in the extended care unit of the Washington County Hospital at Nashville, on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 7:05 p.m. She had attained the age of 92 years, 4 months and 4 days.
Verdell was born in Covington Twp., Washington County, on March 15, 1916, the daughter of Fred H. and Emma (Kraus) Reinhardt. She was baptized in the St. Luke Lutheran Church at Covington on March 17, 1916, by the Rev. J.H. Dye and confirmed in St. Luke Lutheran Church on March 24, 1929, by the Rev. O.A. Borchelt. Verdell was united in marriage to Henry C. Harre in the Grace Lutheran Church at Wellston, Mo., on Oct. 20, 1934, and Henry preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1995.
Mrs. Harre was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a lifelong member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church at Covington, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the LWML. She was a volunteer for the St. John’s Lutheran Church Braille Center. Verdell was also a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and the Okawville Community Club. She enjoyed quilting and cooking but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Left to mourn her passing are six children, Kenneth and wife Geri Harre of Yorba Linda, Calif., Lois and husband Leonard Obermeier of Okawville, Don and wife Gerry Harre of Okawville, Duane and wife Ruth Harre of Covington, Betty and husband Norbert Hasheider of Okawville and Connie Harre-Blair and Jim Blair of Woodlawn; two brothers, Alvin Reinhardt of Swansea, and Arvie and wife Elsie Reinhardt of Covington; one sister, Vera Dinkelman of Nashville; 19 grandchildren, Julia Harre and companion Jonathan Musmand, Jane Harre, Bryan and wife Karla Harre, Debra Harre, Nancy and husband Brian Petersen, Jeff and wife Laura Obermeier, Pam and husband Keith Wienstroer, Jason and wife Dana Obermeier, Scott and wife Kelly Harre, Stacy and husband Nathan Bartling, Nathan Harre, Greg and wife Tara Harre, Dannon Harre, Kristen and husband Dan Miller, Nicole Harre, Michelle and husband Jason Burianek, Matthew and wife Crystal Hasheider, Kelly Hasheider and fiancée Tim Schumacher and Katie Hasheider; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold Reinhardt; and two great-grandchildren, Brenden Bartling and Brody Miller.
Funeral services will be held in the St. Luke Lutheran Church at Covington on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Timothy Mueller officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., on Friday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and thereafter at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. Luke Lutheran Church, St. Luke Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home of Okawville.
