Helen Mae Stevens-Heidinger
Helen Mae Stevens-Heidinger, 90, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born in McLeansboro on Wednes-day, Nov. 14, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Celia (Stelle) Daily. She married Willis H. Stevens of Mt. Vernon on Feb. 25, 1939, in Henderson, Ky. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1978. She married Ross Heidinger on Nov. 22, 1986, in Kentucky; and he preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blooming Grove Cemetery in Hamilton County with the Rev. Bob Hollis officiating. Interment will follow.
There will be no public visitation.
Helen is survived by a son, Gary Stevens and wife Ileen of Normal; two daughters, Helen Talbert and husband Dale of Mt. Vernon and Barbara Dillingham and husband Don of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Kent Stevens and wife Loretta of Mt. Vernon, Kristi Regenhardt and husband Tim of Mt. Vernon, Kelly Stevens and fiancée Laura Kaczor of Nashville, Tenn., Scott Dillingham and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon, Steve Dillingham of Mt. Vernon and Beth Arnold and husband Mitch of Paxton; four great-grandchildren, Emily Schaubert of Paxton, Chase Regenhardt of Mt. Vernon, Blake Horton and wife Amanda of Mt. Vernon and Justin Horton of Waltonville; great-great-grandson, Miles Horton of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, Ed Stevens and wife Carolyn of Ina; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; both husbands; four brothers, Billy, Ronnie, Stell and Jack Daily; and one great-granddaughter, Krista Elizabeth Regenhardt preceded her in death.
Helen was employed as a checker at Park Plaza Kroger in Mt. Vernon for 23 years and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She was always a loving mother and grandmother and always an encourager. She loved the Lord and her family.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Epworth United Methodist Church, Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon or to the Hospice Program at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill., and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
