Wilma Rubenacker

A memorial mass for Wilma Kiefer Rubenacker, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and a former resident of McLeansboro, who passed away July, 20, 2008, was celebrated July 24, 2008, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Father John Ryan as celebrant.

Also, a memorial mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro with Monsignor Joseph Lawler as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Clements Cemetery following the service.

Mrs. Rubenacker came to Ormond Beach in 1988 from Gulf Breeze, Fla., where she was employed at Pensacola Junior College. Prior to her marriage to George Rubenacker, she was employed in the district office of Baker Hughes International.

She was a charter member and board member of the Desk and Derrick Club as well as a member of NSA. While in Gulf Breeze, she was a board member at St. Joseph’s Clinic in Pensacola, worked with Manna Food Bank and held office in St. Ann’s Altar Guild.

Since coming to Ormond Beach, she tutored in the Laubauch Literacy Program, served on the board of the Friends of the Ormond Library and was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Brendan Women’s Club and served as a eucharistic minister to the sick. She was also a 50-year member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. An avid reader, she enjoyed travel, gardening, but most of all her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, George J.; sons, Robert G. Kiefer of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Mark J. Rubenacker of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia A. Rubenacker Craig of Fort Myers, Fla.; a beloved sister and brother, Ann Foster Ellis of Godfrey and Joseph M. Bowling of McLeans-boro; son-in-law, Joseph Craig; three grandsons, Jos-eph, Dylon and Morgan Craig; daughter-in-law, Sher-ry Kiefer; brother-in-law, Phil Ellis; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bowling; and a host of nieces and nephews, along with some very special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 South Clyde Morris Blvd. #300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119 or Habitat for Humanity, 826 White Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.

Prayers and masses are appreciated as well.
