Larry Allen Smith

— Larry Allen Smith, 61, of Independence, Mo., and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away Sept. 5, 2008, at the Center Point Medical Center in Independence, Mo.
He was born in Hamilton County on Dec. 5, 1946, a son of Charles and Georgia (Leslie) Smith. He married Lina Alvarez, and she survives.
Funeral memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Leland Widick officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery near Dahlgren.
Friends may call from 12 noon Friday until service time at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by sons, Charles Richard Smith and wife Stephanie Swanson of Greensboro, N.C., and Daniel Smith of Indepen-dence, Mo.; daughter, Rebe-kah Motley and husband Jared of Hollis, Okla.; three grandchildren, Elijah, Illiana and Judah Motley; brothers and sisters, Edward Olen Smith and wife Sherri of New Boston, Ill., Steve Smith and wife Rebecca of Mt. Vernon and Charlene Carter and husband Keith of Evansville, Ind.; seven nieces and nephews, Lisa Kreiger, Tina Anderson, Kevin Carter, Dusty Smith, Bradley Smith, Cory Smith and Samuel Smith; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather who lived a life dedicated to the education and ministry of children.
