Lyndel Muriel Shields
Lyndel Muriel Shields, 57, of Bluford, died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at his home in Bluford.
He was born on Monday, March 5, 1951, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Raleigh B. and Marie (Mace) Shields. He married Debra M. Ansburg on Dec. 12, 1969, in Paducah, Ky., and she survives in Bluford.
Mr. Shields is survived by his wife; three sons, Mike Shields and wife Colleen of Warrior, Ala., Kevin Shields of Centralia and Brian Shields of Bluford; two grandchildren, Joshua and Brittini Shields of Warrior, Ala.; two brothers, Marvin Shields and wife Kay of Bluford and Rex Allen Shields of Trinity, Ala.; four sisters, Reba Tucker and husband Evan of Trinity, Ala., Joyce Sepanski and husband Larry of Trinity, Ala., Mary Crouch and husband Tom of DeKalb and Doris Klotz and husband Bob of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lenora Kay Shields; and brothers Douglas Charles Shields and Junior Shields.
Lyndel worked as a truck driver, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Vincent Elam officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
