Wilma Eveland
Wilma Jewell Eveland (Brackett), 86, of Dix, entered her Heavenly home Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1922, in Jasper County, the daughter of Millard Brackett and Dolly Jane (Sparks). On April 29, 1944, she married Norval "Bud" Eveland in St. Elmo, and he survives in Dix.
She is survived by her husband, Norval "Bud" Eveland of Dix; a son, Glen Eveland and wife Pat of Holmen, Wis., and stepson, Allen Eveland and wife Belle of Pocatello, Idaho; daughters, Beverly Crawford of Dix, Shelby Bean and husband Philip of Texico, Connie Aldrich and husband Dale of Foosland and Cathy Lisenby of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren, John Eveland, Jeffrey Eveland and wife Paulette, Dale Crawford and wife Kim, Danny Crawford and wife Rhonda, Sara Bean, Adam Bean and wife Leslie, Andy Little and wife Chrystal, Steve Little and wife Maranna and Zach Lisenby; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-step-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dorris Brackett and Cloyce Brackett; two sisters, Eileen Force and Rosalee Logsdon;, and a great-grandson, Shane Eveland.
Mrs. Eveland was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Texico where she served as treasurer, song leader and Sunday school teacher. She was also an avid Cardinals fan.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Dr. Robert Raver and Jonathan Schanutz officiating. Burial will follow at Jordan Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church or Pinehaven Children's Christian Home, and will be accepted at Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, IL 62830.
