Henry Figgures

Henry Figgures, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, and formal resident of Grand Rapids, Mich., died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the home of his brother in Mt. Vernon.



Henry was born June 4, 1927, in Mounds, a son of George Figgures and Ruby Patterson. He first married Odessa (Dockery), and she proceeded him in death. He later married May Nell, and she proceeded him in death as well. Henry worked for Grand Rapid Gravel until retirement. He attended the First Church of God in Christ in Mt. Vernon.



Henry is survived by three sons, Carl, Larry and Kenny; and four daughters, Sandra, Henrietta, Diane and Shae. He leaves three brothers, Marcus G. Blakemore and wife Cassie of Mt. Vernon, Walter and Larry; two sisters, Sarah and Ann; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his wives; parents; two sons, Herbert and Henry; three brothers, Andrew, Charles and Herschel; and two sisters, Lula Mae and Bertha.



Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday.
