Leroy Winka
Mr. Leroy Winka, of DuBois, departed this life at his residence in DuBois on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at 11:58 am. He had attained the age of 64 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Mr. Winka was born on July 15, 1945, in Centralia, the son of Louis and Lillian (Kujawa) Winka. He was united in marriage to Kay Leslie on May 25, 1968, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Scheller, and she survives his passing.
Leroy was a member of the U. S. Army Reserves. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked at General Tire in Mt. Vernon for 22 years. Leroy was a lifelong member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Radom. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching baseball.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Kay Winka of DuBois; four children, Christy Hacay and her husband Brian of Ballwin, Mo., Richard Winka of DuBois, Gary Winka and his wife Kylea of Longmont, Colo., and Jennifer Sursa and her husband Darren of Centralia; his father, Louis Winka of Ashley; a brother, Marvin Winka and his wife Bernice of Ashley; a sister, Sherry Kobus of Radom; 11 grandchildren, Blake and his wife Mucia, Allison, Brandon, Andrew, Korri, Moriah, Skylar, Emma, Gracie, Taylor and Amber; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Winka, and his father-in-law and mother-in law, Clarence and Georgia Leslie.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Robert Zwilling officiating and interment in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass offerings or memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael’s School and will be accepted at Campagna Funeral Home.
