Maxene Halley, 89, of Dahlgren, passed away 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro.
She was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Belle Prairie, the daughter of Clyne and Lela Belle (White) Severs. She married Carl Halley; he preceded her in death in 1964.
Mrs. Halley is survived by her daughters, Judy (Ralph) Loehr of Elgin and Shelly (Russell) Allen of Dahlgren; granddaughters, Kathy (Tom) Bergholt of Hampshire, Karla (Ray) Shaefer of Orlando, Fla., and Bethany (Roger) Wellen of Dahlgren; grandsons, Erin (Jackie) Halley of McLeansboro, Kris (Misti) Halley of Dahlgren and Roger (Marci) Allen of Dahlgren; a sister, Faye (Bud) Sefried of Dahlgren; a brother, Albert (Marilyn) Severs of Dahlgren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Pete Halley; a sister, Wilma Halley; and a brother, Cyrus Severs.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Piopolis. She loved to quilt and crochet. She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Altar Sodality of Piopolis.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Piopolis with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Burial will be at Crouch Cemetery in Belle Prairie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro. Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
