MT. VERNON — — Alexander LaVdies Dinwiddie Dawson, 40, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:27 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
Alexander was born March 1, 1973, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Alexander Dawson and Brenda Jean (Dinwiddie). He was engaged to be married to Catina Godwin. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Dinwiddie was an automotive mechanic and was employed as a cashier for Huck's stores.
Alexander is survived by his mother, Brenda Jean Spillman; fiance, Catina Godwin; six children, Alexander Dinwiddie of Detroit, Alexandria Dinwiddie of Detroit, Marquist Dinwiddie of Detroit, Dionte Dinwiddie of Detroit, Marcellius Dinwiddie of Daphne, Ala., and Therina Hall of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Dawson; maternal grandparents, Robert and Christine Dinwiddie; paternal grandparents, the Rev. A.L. and Minnie Dawson; and stepfather, Richard Spillman.
Services for Alexander LaVdies Dinwiddie will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 Conger Ave., Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Lawrence James and Tim Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon's Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the church.
