Mary A. Wiley, 85, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Oasis Healthcare Center in LaQuinta, Calif.
She was born Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1927, in Erie, the daughter of Elmer Tanner and Ruth Etta (Williams) Border. She married John B. Wiley in West Covina, Calif. in May of 1964. He preceded her in death in May 1986.
Mary worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for a car dealership. She was a member of Herbs for Health and Fun Club and was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her friend, Phyles Cox of Mt. Vernon; three nephews, John Meeks of California, Mark Meeks of California and Edward David Border of Manhattan, Mont.; two great-nieces, Brittney and Katlyn Border of California; and great-nephew, David Tanner Border of Manhattan, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edna Maxine Border; brother, Howard E. Border; aunt, Hattie Harshbarger; and one uncle and his wife, Herbert Page and Eva.
Graveside burial of ashes was held March 20 at Williams Chapel Cemetery in Ewing.
In honor of Mary’s wishes, no public visitation will be held.
