Amylee O. Howard, 74, of Mt. Vernon, passed peacefully away into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her husband and loving family on Sunday, June 30, 2013. A golden heart stopped beating at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Amy was born on Aug. 26, 1938, to Linzy and Zelma Clark. Amy was a gentle, loving and supportive woman. She was a Christian who loved her Lord and honored Him with her life. She attended Family Life Assembly of God. She was employed at Mt. Vernon High School for 13 years in the attendance department, as well as owned her own upholstery business. She was also a private secretary for West Virginia Electric Company.
Amylee loved her family beyond measure. She was a great mother, grandmother, wife and friend in every sense of the word.
She married Karl F. Martin on Dec. 26, 1954, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 1982. On July 18, 1992, she married Carl (Bud) Howard and he survives in Mt. Vernon. They spent their summer months in Mt. Vernon and traveled to Florida each winter to fish and enjoy the warm sunshine. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening and yard sale shopping.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 21 years, Carl (Bud) Howard; her children, daughter, Rhonda Burris and husband Louis, daughter, Sonya Palmer and husband Mike, stepson, Rod Howard and wife Tamie and stepdaughter, Rhonda and husband Bill Lindenmuth; grandchildren, Lindsay Burris, Casey and husband Kyle Lonas, Chris and wife Erin Palmer, Alex and wife Brandi and Elizabeth and husband Ben Wright; step-grandchildren, Kenneth Howard, Ashley Pugh, Britney Cole, Derek Richardson, Zeb Roberts and Jesse Howard; great-grandchildren, Carson Lonas and Cheyenne Palmer; several step great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Cotner, Alletta French and husband Harold and Judy Schneider and husband Albert; brothers, Harl Clark and wife Audria Clark of Fort Collins, Colo. and Stanley Clark and wife Lenore of Mt Vernon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Monahan of Aurora, Ohio; and also several nieces and nephews.
