Sharon K. Leffler, 74, of Mt. Vernon, died 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at her home in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Saturday, Feb. 3, 1940, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Kelly Rector and Doris (Hand) O’Neal. She married Donald Leffler on Dec. 14, 1957, in Corinth, Miss.
Sharon first worked as a cosmetologist in Missouri and later as the manager at R&R Video in Mt. Vernon. Most recently, until failing health, Sharon designed floral arrangements for Lena’s Flowers and Things. She was a member of the Roaring ‘20s Club and acted as treasurer for the Summersville Crime Watch. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by husband, Donald Leffler of Mt. Vernon; mother, Doris O’Neal of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Rick Leffler and wife Rene of Sun Prairie, Wis. and Randy Leffler and wife Diane of Mt. Vernon; grandson, Justin Leffler and fiancee Lindsey Gabby of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Don Rector and wife Dixie of Mt. Vernon and Bob Rector and wife Pam of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; half-brother, Richard “Dick” Rector; stepfather, Glenn O’Neal; and stepmother, Blanche Rector.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
