Ronald L. House, 68, of Opdyke, died 8:26 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at his home in Opdyke.
He was born Sunday, May 6, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Carl and Helen Mary (Hahn) House. He married Linda Kirk on June 4, 1966, in Mt. Vernon.
Ronald served in the U.S. Army with the 64th Ordinance Company in Germany. He was parts manager for Brehm Hanna Chevrolet Company and was a parts clerk for Blankenship Auto Parts. He was a driver for Dyel Transport during his retirement. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141, a volunteer for Jefferson County Fire Protection District and a member of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Linda House of Opdyke; two sons, Tim House of Opdyke and Dan House and wife Christine of Beaver Dam, Wis.; two grandchildren, Corey House and fiancee Sherla Isaac of Mt. Vernon and Jacey House of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Barbie Merchel and husband Junior of Mt. Vernon and Jacque Payne and husband Richard of Keenes; two stepgrandchildren, J’ne Otey of Mt. Vernon and Kristen Otey of Beaver Dam, Wis.; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Drennan and husband Robert of Ina, Dorothy Dyel Tindle and Barbara House, both of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, Junior Kirk and wife Sharon of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David House; one nephew, Paul House; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Bernice Kirk.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodlawn with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodlawn. Members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
