David Ray Wisdom, 61, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 3:28 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Nov. 9, 1952, in Pekin, to Alfred D. and Freida (Hedrick) Wisdom, he married Barbara Grogan on Aug. 30, 1974, in Pekin. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Charles) Garden of Salem, Judith (Gene) Gove and Kelly (Aaron) Sellars, both of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Danny (Coral) Wisdom and Thomas (Tina) Blake, both of Oklahoma and Bobby Gene (Kathleen) Blake of Pekin; and two sisters, Della (Larry) Stewart and Janice Mercer, both of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and his step-father.
David was self-employed, working at Wisdom’s Casinos in Mt. Vernon and last working in January 2014.
He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in DuQuoin and the Jefferson County Shrine Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and being a grandpa.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin with Pastor Charles Grogan officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Bethel Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
