Hazel E. Jackson, 93, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1921, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Constance “Connie” and Ethel (Eldridge) Mezo. She married Virgil Panzier on April 9, 1938, in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death in May 1979. She married Ray Jackson and he preceded her in death in August 1988.
Hazel was ward supervisor at Manteno State Hospital; she later worked at a drycleaners in Anna and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Eileen Heppe and husband Robert of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Jerry Fred Panzier and wife Margaret of Waltonville and David Ray Panzier and wife Margie of Waltonville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Mishler officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
