Barbara A. Ratcliff, 70, of Granite City, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of the late James I. and Velma I. (Lane) Collins.
She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after many years of dedicated service as a tax examiners assistant. She was a member of Suburban Baptist Church in Granite City and enjoyed working with arts and crafts and her days of traveling. She was a graduate of the Mt. Vernon High School Class of 1962. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Aaron Ratcliff of Granite City and Michael and Jessica Ratcliff of Ballwin, Mo.; one grandson, Ryan Ratcliff of Granite City; sister-in-law, Barbara Collins of Sacramento, Calif.; niece, Amy Schoeber of Glen Carbon; nephew, James H. Collins of Sacramento, Calif.; and other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James C. Collins.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be at Suburban Baptist Church, 2500 St. Clair Avenue in Granite City at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Chris Bell officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
