Donald McPherson Dantinne, 84, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Delaware, died at 6:53 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Upland, Penn., the son of Emil Joseph and Grace Marie (Politte) Dantinne.
He is survived by a son, Donald McPherson Dantinne of Newark, Del.; four daughters, Marie Koy of Mt. Vernon, Valerie Brown of Boston, Melissa Brown of Newark, Del., and Donna Dantinne of Newark, Del.; two brothers, Harry and Russell; four sisters, Tootsie, Pearl, Florence and Delores; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy Dantinne; one sister, Bea; and two brothers, Richard and Edward.
Donald served our country in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines aboard the USS Washburn during the Korean Conflict and worked as a foreman for Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Del. He was a member of the Bethany, Del., Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the Korean War veterans.
In honor of Donald’s wishes he will be cremated and no services will be held.
