---- — Dorothy Bernice Loss, 91, of Texico, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 11:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1922, in Waltonville, the daughter of Norval “Hack” and Nellie Evelyn (Locher) Wilson. She married LeRoy Robert Loss on May 26, 1953, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1993.

Dorothy worked as a homemaker, enjoyed exploring rummage and garage sales and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by four sons, Larry Lusby and wife Carlene of Harmony, Edward Loss of Mt. Vernon, David Loss of Texico and Phillip Loss and wife Ralphene of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Evelyn Burnett and husband Glenn of Opdyke and Sherry Bullock and husband Michael of Texico; nine grandchildren, Julie Karch and husband Brandon of Mt. Vernon, Jeremy Wright and wife Penny of Lancaster, Ky., Caitlin “Kat” Bullock of Gage, Okla., Shelley Adams and husband Monte of Belle Rive, Jill Lisk and husband Sylvester of Opdyke, Todd Lusby of Bluford, Kelly Scott and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer Loss of Mt. Vernon and Julie Loss of Mt. Vernon; daughter-in-law, Gerry Lusby of Bluford; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Richard “Bud” Lusby; brother, Harley Wilson; and granddaughter, Cheryl Wilkerson.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will be at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
