James L. Woodland, 78, of Michigan City, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at 4:55 a.m. in Hospice Franciscan Communities.
He was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Racine, Wis., to the late James and Beulah (Winkler) Woodland. On July 21, 1958, in Mt. Vernon, he married Vada Wood who survives in Michigan City, Ind.
He is also survived by a daughter, Tracy Shreve of Michigan City, Ind.; son, Teddy (Mary) Woodland of Texas; 10 grandchildren, Allen, John, Joshua, Christopher, Scott, Kari, Bill, Jimmy, Stephen and Jason; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda, Dixie and Linda; and a brother, Michael.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie McDermott; a son, Tony Woodland; and his son-in-law, Myron Shreve.
James retired as a furnace operator at Republic Steel and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place and services will be conducted at a later date.
