Richard A. Marlow, 74, of Speegleville, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at a local hospital.
Richard was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, to Allen and Thelma Marlow. He was married to Pauline Copple from 1958 to 1981 when the couple divorced.
Richard was employed by VanTran Electric in Vandalia then moved his family to Waco, Texas, to work in the power transformer plant built in 1973. Later, he worked in the maintenance department of Mrs. Baird’s Bakery where he retired in 2004. Richard enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting, fishing, working on race cars and watching Nascar races.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by three children, Larry Marlow and wife Debra of China Spring, Lisa Marlow and Jim Burns of China Spring and Michael Marlow of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Marlow and wife Linda of Jacksonville, Ark.; three sisters, Julia Marlowe of Overland Park, Kan., Jean Bolerjack and husband Terry of Leawood, Kan. and Jane Marlow of Mt. Vernon; aunt, Joann Carlton Zinkgraf of Highland; and three nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas under the direction of Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco, Texas, with the Rev. James Stevens officiating.
