Dennis G. Richardson, 68, of Dahlonega, Ga., passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 20, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, to the late Gene and Vernetta Richardson. He had lived in Dahlonega for the past 10 years having moved from Griffin, Ga. Dennis was a retired civil engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation with 34 years of service. For the past 10 years he was the office manager for Amicalola Propane in Dawsonville, Ga., which is owned by his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Kristin. Affectionately known as “Poppa,” he was a loving husband who was also very devoted to his sons and especially his grandchildren. Dennis was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, gardener, and was an accomplished inventor.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jean Anglin Richardson of Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Cathy Richardson of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jon Richardson and his fiance Lisa Harn, Griffin, Ga., and Matt and Kristin Richardson of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Jordan Richardson, Donovan Richardson, Maya Richardson, William Richardson, Maddie Richardson, Mary Anglin Richardson, Reagan Richardson, Genevieve Richardson and Isaac Harn; special friend, Evelyn King; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Connie Richardson of Belle Rive; and sister, Denise Richardson of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Schofield and the Rev. Richard Broom officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
