Sona Elizabeth “Bibby” Lehman, 93, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Elizabeth was born on March 19, 1920, in Waltonville, the daughter of Knox and Sona Mae (Mannen) Gee. She married Paul Glen Lehman on Oct. 27, 1945, and he died March 18, 2003.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. During World War II she was a telephone operator at Camp Ellis in Rockford.
She is survived by her children, Sona Joe Hines and husband Larry of Effingham, Charles Knox Lehman and wife Doris of Sparta, Paula Sue Price and husband Steve of Newbern, Tenn. and Tami Lehman of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Lara Westjohn and husband Yale, Shannon Lehman and wife Karrie, Jessica Pattengill and husband Justin, Joshua Rentfrow and wife Sara, Brandis Fullerton and husband Ben and Kris Price and wife Dori; nine great-grandchildren, Cameron Westjohn, Cassidy Westjohn, Jackson Lehman, Paige Lehman, Lilli Fullerton, Benton Fullerton, Isabella Pattengill, Lilah Pattengill, Eliana Rentfrow and Emily Price.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ruth Ann Lehman and husband Ralph; and two brothers, Stewart Gee and wife Marie and Donald Gee and wife Violet.
Services for Sona Elizabeth “Bibby” Lehman will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Phil Poe officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
