---- — Paul Ray Wilson, 85, of Wayne City, went home to his Lord and Savior at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Healthcare Center in Mt. Vernon.

He was born July 15, 1928, in Keenes, the son of Horacia and Blanch (Parkhill) Wilson. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. On Feb. 7, 1953, at Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Wayne City, he married Ruth D. DeJournett and she survives in Wayne City.

He was an engineer for Illinois Central Railroad and also worked as a farmer for many years on his family farm.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wilson of Wayne City; two sons, Jack Wilson and wife Beth of Wayne City and Ted Wilson of Wayne City; six grandchildren, Melissa Wilson-Smith, Jennifer Moore and husband James, Kimberly Zimmerman and husband Zach, Christina Wilson, Josh Wilson and Brianna Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him, Emily, Jacey and Chase Smith, AJ, Kylee, Lily and Logan Moore, Justin Wilson, Zayden and Baby Girl Zimmerman; one brother, Sammy Wilson of Missouri; and sister, Fern Parks of Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacia and Blanch Wilson; one son, Danny Ray Wilson; one grandson, Joey Wilson; two brothers, Roy and Marvin Wilson; and one sister, Ruth Smith.

Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with John High officiating. Burial will follow at Salem (Davis-Mateer) Cemetery, in Keenes.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery or the Activity Department at Mt. Vernon Healthcare and will be accepted at the service, or by mail at Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, IL 62830.
