Terry Glen Friedman, age 55, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Terry was born in Mt. Vernon on April 11, 1958, the son of Paul Glenn Friedman and Norma J. (Lemay). He married Barbara Ann (Bowdler) and she survives in Mt. Vernon.
Terry was a drywall finisher, fireman for the Mt. Vernon Fire Department and later a dispatcher for the Mt. Vernon Police Department. Terry was a graduate of McLeansboro High School where he was a basketball and football player. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Eagles Lodge 2791.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Friedman of Mt. Vernon; mother, Norma Payton of Mt. Vernon; maternal grandmother, Nellie Lemay of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Tara Friedman of Mt. Vernon and Stacey Mooney and husband Nathan of Centralia; son, Jason Hawkins of Granite City; sister, Paula Cornelius and husband Richard of Nashville; brother, Dennis Friedman and wife Susie of McLeansboro; four grandchildren, Whitney, Shelby, Isabella and Braeleigh; aunt, Phyllis Roberts and husband Todd of Mt. Vernon; uncle, Randy Lemay and wife Kathy of Opdyke; and also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and fiends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Glenn Friedman; stepfather, Ross Payton; maternal grandfather, Emmit Lemay; granddaughter, Jasmine; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Hawkins.
Interment will be held at a later date in the Hopewell Cemetery in rural Jefferson County.
