Mrs. Veronica Kujawa, of Waltonville, departed this life at her residence in Waltonville on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. She had attained the age of 93 years, 1 month and 13 days.
Mrs. Kujawa was born on Dec. 21, 1920, in Blissville Township, Jefferson County, the daughter of Kostanty and Bertha (Borowiak) Kujawa. She was united in marriage to John Kujawa on June 28, 1938, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1995.
Veronica worked at Hollywood Brands for many years. She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Sodality. Vernoica was an avid quilter and loved working on the farm.
Left to mourn her passing are three children, Marion Kujawa and his wife Dianne of Ashley, Eleanor Pijut of Scheller and Eugene Kujawa and his wife Jane of Waltonville; eight grandchildren, Linda (special friend Jeff Bundy) Kujawa of O’Fallon, a granddaughter-in-law, Becky Kujawa of Ashley, Pam (Ron) Dent of Scheller, Rhonda (Ed) Niedbalski of Columbia, Sandra (Steve) Zawaske of Ashley, Eugene (Mary) Kujawa, Jr. of DuBois, Tony (Karrie) Kujawa of Nashville, Judy (Jason) Baldus of Collinsville and Joy (Greg) Warren of Fairview Heights; four stepgrandchildren, Terry (special friend Nancy Janowski) Schettler of Ashley, Tracy Sanders of Ashley, Nick (Beth) Schettler of North Dakota and John (Carrie) Schettler of Ashley; 19 great-grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Dent of Ashley, Amanda (Matt) Kern of Waterloo, Eric (Amanda) Niedbalski of Belleville, Greg (Katie) Niedbalski of Columbia, Stacey (Jason) Glaenzer of Waterloo, Dylan, Trenton, Ryan and Jenna Kujawa, Evan, Alana and Olivia Kujawa, Gracie, Addison, Cecelia and Lola Baldus and Reegan, Ellery and Oliver Warren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Cassandra, Samantha and Brendon Schettler, Matthew Sanders all of Ashley, Dylan Schettler of North Dakota and Bryce and Adyson Schettler of Ashley; nine great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Aubrey Dent of Ashley, Wyatt, Sawyer and Adalynn Niedbalski of Belleville, Mason Niedbalski of Columbia and Waylon, Cashton and Easton Glaenzer of Waterloo; a brother, Carl (Betty) Kujawa of St. Louis; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Kujawa of Ashley and Marcelle Kujawa of DuBois; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Ed, Emil, Raymond and Stanley Kujawa; three sisters, Wanda Kubicki, Lillian Winka and Bertha Janowski; a son-in-law, Dominic Pijut; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Kujawa; a grandson, John M. Kujawa; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Kujawa; and a stepgreat-grandson, David Sanders.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom at 10 a.m. Monday with Fr. Dale Maxfield officiating and with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church or St. Michael Altar and Rosary Sodality and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
