---- — Tommy Dale “Tom” Steege, 69 years, 3 months and 23 days, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Friday, Sept. 8, 1944, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the son of Louis Carl and Bereniece Joyce (Merrick) Steege.
Tom was employed as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital Group from June 1985, until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt Vernon.
He is survived by his son, Troy Steege of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Tammy Danielle Rednour of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Hallie, Sophia, Perry, Thomas, Aaron and J.D.; two sisters, Sherry Walsh of Crawfordsville, Ind. and Janice Elaine Bergstrom and husband Jerry of Lander, Wyo.; and severeal nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Diana Abbott; and one nephew, Martin Talbott.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Victor Long officiating.
In honor of his wishes, Tom was cremated and a gathering of friends and family will be from 6 until the time of service at 7 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
