Barbara Faye Pierpoint, 77, of Dix, died peacefully at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1936, in Marting, W.Va. and raised in Nellis, W.Va., the daughter of Charles O. and Susan L. (Lykins) Pierpoint.
She graduated from Warren Wilson High School in Asheville, N.C. and completed her R.N. at McMillan Hospital in Charleston, W.Va., in 1957. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Payne Whitney Clinic in New York and as head nurse at Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, N. J.
She is survived by her loving family, including one son, Terrence M. Hurley, Jr. and wife Van of Houston; three daughters, Karen E. Hurley of New York, Kathleen H. Liao and husband Frank of Princeton Junction, N.J. and Maureen H. Riley and husband Brian of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Johanna Kay Liao, Samuel Charles Liao and Sean Patrick Riley; two sisters, Judith P. Misoni and husband David of Big Rapids, Mich. and Rebecca Jane P. Sturgill and husband James of Grass Valley, Calif.; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles H. Pierpoint of Woodlawn; her grandson, Matthew Monroe Riley; and her beloved cousin, Ralph James Pierpoint.
In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service officiated by Jonathan Schautz will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church or Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon and will be accepted at the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix IL 62830, who is in charge of arrangements.
