Lucille Inez Hanson, 92, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at her home in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1921, in Zeigler, the daughter of Joseph and Edith Mae (Curry) Casson. She married Hugo Edward Hanson on Aug. 19, 1942, in Chicago, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1988.
She is survived by two children: James E. Hanson and wife Joyce Elaine of Mt. Vernon and Diana L. Hanson of Belleville; five grandchildren, Rebecca Elliott of Texico, Paul W. Arndt of Mt. Vernon, Brian J. Arndt of Mt. Vernon, Daniel J. Hanson and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon and Jeff A. Hanson and wife Stephanie of Bourbonnais; six great-grandchildren, Emilee Arndt and Kylie Arndt of Mt. Vernon, Savannah Hanson and Tylar Brianne Hanson of Bluford and Kendall Hanson of Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, John R. Hanson; one grandson, John Robert Hanson II; a sister, Mary Welke; seven brothers, Stuart, Robert, Joseph, Casson and Lawrence, Howard and Ean Edgar Curry.
Lucille was a homemaker and officer for the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 233 for over 25 years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Vernon and the American Legion Post 1193 of Bluford.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Vernon with Father Gene Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday night at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Order of Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.
