MT. VERNON —
Bill D. Inman, 86, of Mt. Vernon, died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in McClelland, Ark., a son of Jim S. and Alice S. (Palmer) Inman. He married Margaret Costner in Memphis, Tenn., on Nov. 10, 1955. She survives in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Inman is survived by a daughter, Donna Sue Inman of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter, Dannah Steele of St. Louis; and a brother, Leon Inman of Chicago. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Dollie Rogers, Alice Bromeyer, Lois Wingo and Ercell Harrison; and one brother Hal Inman.
Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944-47. He was an exterminator and owner/operator of Acme Exterminating Co. in Mt. Vernon for 60 years. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376, a member of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. He enjoyed watching sports, horse racing, Blues music and he loved his family, especially his grandkids.
In honor of his request, private services will be held with the Rev. Bud Storey officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
