---- — Deborah Mae McPherson, 56, of Vincennes, Ind., died Wednesday morning, May 22, 2013, at her home after a courageous battle with ALS.

She was born Sept. 19, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Billie Dean and Mary Mae (Jones) Modlin. On Nov. 26, 1977, at First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, she married Eddie James McPherson and he survives her in Vincennes, Ind.

Mrs. McPherson graduated from Rome Grade School, Mt. Vernon High School and Kaskaskia College, completing the Dental Assistant Program there. She worked as a dental assistant for 35 years for several dentists. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and attended Free United Methodist Church in Vincennes, Ind. She was a Red Cross volunteer. She was a loving wife, mother and GiGi and she will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, Eddie McPherson, of Vincennes, Ind., she is survived by her mother, Mary Mae Modlin Dobbs and husband Lee of Dix; two daughters, Lindsey McPherson of Vincennes, Ind. and Christy Stafford and husband Josh of Vincennes, Ind.; one granddaughter, Delaney Stafford of Vincennes, Ind.; one sister, Rosemary Edson of Dix; one niece, Jennifer Holloway and husband Jay of Mt. Vernon; three nephews, John Shirley and wife Holly of Mt. Vernon, Josh Shirley of Mt. Vernon and Ryan Edson of Mt. Vernon; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carl and Sue McPherson of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Marybeth Shirley and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Dean Modlin; maternal grandparents, Lola and Earl Jones; and grandmother, Dora Allour.

Funeral service for Mrs. McPherson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Don Fausnaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
