Jean Downen, 69. of Wayne City, died 7:55 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at her home in Wayne City.
She was born Thursday, Sept. 30, 1943, in Wayne City, the daughter of Harry “Ace” and Norma Lucille (Turner) Draper. She married Donald L. Downen on Feb. 26, 1960, in Mt. Vernon.
Jean was a homemaker. She was a member of The Journey Church in Fairfield.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Downen of Wayne City; four children, Denise Hiatt and husband Ed of Hobart, Ind., Shari Hutcheson and husband Scott of Rockport, Ind., Lisa Wells of Wayne City and Danny Downen and wife Sherry of Westville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Levi Hiatt, Heath Hutcheson, Hillary Hutcheson, Paige Wells, Stevie Downen and Jaxon Downen; stepgrandchild, Aaron Rippe; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Alivia, Elijah, Brenn and Coen; three brothers, Ace “Short” Draper and wife Betty Jo of Simi Valley, Calif., Jack Draper of Los Angeles and Marty Draper of Los Angeles; sister, Eva Hinkle and husband Bill of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Rod Draper.
In honor of Jean’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
