Pauline Ida Chambliss, 99 years, four months and eight days, of Harmony, peacefully went home to meet her Lord and Savior at 1:28 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1914, in Bluford, the daughter of Ross and Lura (Purcell) Poole. On Sept. 26, 1934, she married Keith Chambliss and he preceded her in death.
She attended White Oak Grade School and Mt. Vernon High School. She was a homemaker, and a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. She enjoyed being around people.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Karn; three grandchildren, Melanie Mifflin, Dwight (Eddie) Dilg and wife Mindy and Martha Langley and husband James; two sisters, Bernice Miller and husband Burton and Joy Meador; one brother, Irvin Poole; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter; two sisters; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chambliss will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Harmony Missionary Baptist church, with the Rev. Derrick Cairel officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Missionary Baptist Church or the Southern Harmony Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the service or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, IL 62830.
