Pauline Moore, age 101, of Mt. Vernon and a former resident of Carterville, was called home by her Lord and Savior 9:58 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Mt. Vernon Residential Living Center.
Pauline was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Woodlawn, the daughter of Tom and Grace (Piper) Dycus, both of Woodlawn. She married Bruce Moore of Woodlawn on Feb. 16, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2003.
Pauline was an active member of the Carterville United Methodist Church for many years. After moving to Mt. Vernon she attended the Meadowbrook Christian Church. She was also a member of the Carterville PRH Club and a Girl Scout leader. She particularly enjoyed her home and garden, reading, playing cards, cooking, entertaining, traveling and time with her many friends and family.
She was survived by her two children, Tom Moore and wife Rhonda of Mt. Vernon and Ruth (Moore) Heilenbach and husband Dale of Westchester; five grandchildren, Julia Moak (Weldon Regan), Cindy (Barry) Garcia, Dr. Timothy (Ann), Jason and Justin (Terra) Heilenbach; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron (Kay) Moak and Shelane (Ned) Whiting, Daniel (Jessica) and Michael Garcia, and Noah, Kate, Sam and Finch Heilenbach; one great-great-grandchild, Stella Garcia; and two brothers, Harold Ray Dycus of Penbrock Pines, Fla. and Donald Lee Snow of Pekin.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce Moore; and sisters, Irene (Dycus) Bourland and Mary Katherine (Snow) Moseleski.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Michael Sheets officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
