Leta Mae (Garren) Mosbarger, 78, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 5:48 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia with her family singing hymns around her bed.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1936, in Centralia, the daughter of Harold Glendon and Cecil Marie (Sanders) Garren. On June 30, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, she married Thomas W. Mosbarger and he survives in Centralia.
Leta was a homemaker and attended Mt. Vernon Township High School. She was a member of Calumet Street Christian Church. She was active in the Women’s Christian Fellowship and other women’s ministries at the church. She was a member of the home extension, the Raccoon School PTA and enjoyed playing the piano, photography and floral designing.
In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by five children, Deana L. Overturf of Mt. Vernon, Pamala J. Mosbarger of Salem, Terrill W. Mosbarger and wife Beverly of Kampsville, Robert G. Mosbarger and wife Deena of Flora and Ivan Mosbarger and wife Trisha of Cisne; 10 grandchildren, Adam Emanuel and wife Elaine, CaeLee Overturf, Levi Overturf, Amanda Mosbarger, Andrew Mosbarger, Chance Funk and wife Kisha, Chet Funk and wife Vanessa, Sawyer Mosbarger, Samantha Mosbarger and Dino Mosbarger; three great-grandchildren, Xander Millis, Emmalyn Funk and Ellee Funk; and one brother, Burrell Garren and wife Hela of North Field, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mervin Garren and Verne Garren and wife Mary Lou.
As per her wishes her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
