Marjorie A. Woodard, 91, of Four Oaks, N.C. and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Johnston Health in Smithfield, N.C.
She was born Thursday, Oct. 19, 1922, in Cravat, the daughter of Edward R. and Rosa M. (Barber) Blessin. She married Roy R. Woodard and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1989.
Marjorie worked as an office secretary and a homemaker and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by son, John E. Woodard and wife Penny of Benson, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Debbie LaMontagne and husband Mark, Kim Etzell, Donnie Harlow, Greg Harlow, Tracy Breyer, Erika Woodard, Mindy Hubbuch and husband Chris and Christopher DiMatteo; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Judith May Harlow; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Edward M. Blessin, Louis Blessin and Charles Blessin; one sister, Anna May Modert; and four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Blessin, Kay Blessin, Irene Blessin and Maureen Marlow.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jordan Chapel Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Bud Storey officiating. Interment will be at Jordan Chapel Cemetery in Jefferson County.
In honor of Marjorie’s wishes, no visitation will be held.
