Mr. A.J. Holcomb, of Ashley, departed this life at Washington County Hospital Emergency Room in Nashville on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 6:20 p.m. He had attained the age of 54 years and one day.
Mr. Holcomb was born on March 26, 1960, in Chicago, the son of Donald and Margaret (Chandler) Holcomb. He was united in marriage to Kelly Cunningham on Dec. 2, 1983, at Sparta, and she survives his passing.
A.J. worked at Vernwood Press for 10 years in the press room and then for Heartland Radiology for 16 years as an x-ray tech. He was of the Baptist faith. A.J. loved coaching softball and enjoyed going and watching sporting events.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Kelly Holcomb of Ashley; his mother, Margaret Holcomb of Tilden; two children, Bryon Holcomb and his wife Ruth and Rebecca Holcomb, all of Ashley; two uncles, Joseph Wilson of Sparta and Dennis Chandler and his wife Paulette of Tilden; a granddaughter, Dana Watkins; and nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Holcomb and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tilden Baptist Church in Tilden with the Rev. Web Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Tilden Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or the Tilden Scholarship Fund and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
