Juanita Louise Phillips, 64, of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with the Lord at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at her home in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Nov. 7, 1949, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Floyd and Betty (Bennett) Zellers. She married Sam Phillips, and he survives in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Draper and husband Andy of Mt. Vernon; a son, Brian Phillips and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Teairra, Caden, Saige and Jacob; brother, Glenn Zellers and wife Paulette of Dahlgren; two sisters, Phyllis Bruce of Mt. Vernon and Dorothy Laughmiller and husband Marshall of Florida; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew and his family, Sean and Melissa Bruce, Addyson and Lydia Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles including Everett Zellers.
Juanita was a front desk manager at Hampton Inn of Mt. Vernon and was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon and the Ladies Auxiliary to Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141.
A graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Jefferson County with Chaplain Captain Bob Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Old Shiloh Cemetery.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
