Roberta Frick

Roberta Hirons Frick, 90, of Waltonville, died at 8:26 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Roberta was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Aud Hirons, Sr., and Meda (Norris) Hirons. She married Harold Blaine Frick on April 25, 1943, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2008.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waltonville. She assisted her husband Harold and the Fry family in the operation of the Fry and Frick Funeral Home in Waltonville. Roberta worked as a volunteer for the American Red Cross for twenty-five years and served as a Pink Lady for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon for twenty years.

Family was very important to Roberta. She truly loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Roberta is survived by four sons, Robert E. Frick and wife Mollie of Homewood, Harold B. Frick and wife Helen of Atlanta, Ga., Joe Ben Frick of Murphysboro and Dr. Warren E. Frick and wife Carol of Lawrence, Kan.; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose Hirons, Gene Frick and wife Joann, Dean Frick and wife Colleen, and John “JR” Frick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant brother, Joe Ben; three brothers, Aud “Jiggs” Hirons, Jr., and wife Carlyn, OP Hirons and wife Rosie and Malcolm Hirons; and twin sister, Alberta Martin and husband Coy.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 8, at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with the Rev. Chuck Trent, the Rev. Ed Endsley and the Rev. Matthew Frick officiating. Burial will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
