---- — Teddy Gary Hayes, 65, of Walnut Hill, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in New Haven on April 8, 1947, the son of James David and Mary (Bean) Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a truck driver who enjoyed deer hunting and spending time in his barn. He was a member of Baker Street Baptist Church in Walnut Hill for many years where he served as Treasurer and Sunday School Director. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hayes was a dedicated and loving father to four daughters, Danielle Hayes and friend Roger Campbell of Centralia, Kelsie Middleton and husband Adam of Centralia, Garyelle Hayes and friend Brian Neilands of Sandoval and Juliana Hayes of Walnut Hill. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Harley, Phoenix, Douglas, Michaela and Jaxson; three sisters, Shelba Pruett of Texas, Gene Bean of Beckemeyer and Dorthy Hays; one brother, Jackie Wayne; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Sarah Knaak, Kelsey Kleiboeker, Taylor Evans, Brittany Vaughn, Bernard “Bro” Flanigan, Dean Swinedell, Jim Beaty and Pastor Don Bigham; and his special pets, Charlie and Sassy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Wayne Hayes; six brothers and sisters, Alford, Elsie, Robert “Bob”, Dale, Junior and Donnie; a brother-in-law, Mack Bean; and special friends, Steve Norman and Jim Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Baker Street Baptist Church in Walnut Hill with Pastor Don Bigham officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
