MT. VERNON —
Clifford Martin passed away at his home Monday evening, Aug. 27, 2012, from his battle with cancer.
Clifford was born in Nason on June 22, 1940, and graduated from Waltonville High School. He joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 551 in 1962 and he was presented with his 50 year membership award recently. In 1979, he started Rend Lake Plumbing and Heating Company, Inc., and was also a lifelong member of Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church.
He married Maxine (Dublo) on Aug. 1, 1959, at the Hazel Dell Free Will Baptist Church; she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Adams and husband Kirby of Ina; his sons, Tom Martin and wife Connie of Bonnie and Rodney Martin and wife Annette of Bonnie; grandchildren, Leon Adams and wife Andrea, Laura Beth Stevenson and husband Joe, Sara Adams, Megan Farmer and husband Kwort, Tim Holland, Tom Holland, Lauren Holland, Taylor Evens and Jacob Martin; four great-grandchildren, Madalynn and Maylee Adams and Benjamin and Logan Stevenson; a sister, Brenda Goodman of Bonnie; a sister-in-law, Myrna Martin of Opdyke; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Faral and Lois (Melton) Martin; a brother, Eugene Martin; and a sister, Karen Sneed and husband Ralph.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. David Milburn officiating. Burial will be at Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church and also after 8 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Martin’s memory may be made to the Free Will Baptist International Missions or to Mt. Vernon FFA and will be accepted at the church during visitation or at Johnston Funeral Home at any time.
