---- — Margaret E. “Marge” Lemons, 91 years, 4 months and 27 days, died 3:57 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Tuesday, June 6, 1922, in St. Louis, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Maltuski) Colgrave. She married John Lemons on Aug. 16, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; he survives in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Harold Lemons of Ina and William “Bill” Lemons and special friend Janet Krugler of Mt. Vernon; a daughter-in-law, Beth Lemons of Mt. Vernon; a brother-in-law, Harold L. Lemons and wife Barbara of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Lemons; a daughter, Doris Poole; a daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Lemons; two brothers, John and Charles Colgrave; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Marge was a homemaker, a very active member and a WMU leader of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, and was a very active volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy and March of Dimes associations.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin “Buck” Larson officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
