Mrs. Florence Waier, 90, of Ashley, departed this life at the Washington County Hospital Skilled Care in Nashville on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at 8:40 p.m.
Florence was born on Dec. 25, 1922, at Todds Mill, the daughter of Mike and Agatha (Todd) Bathon. She was united in marriage to Louis Waier on Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill; he survives her passing in Ashley.
Mrs. Waier was a homemaker and a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom. She enjoyed working the fish fry at St. Fredinand Catholic Church in Florissant, Mo. Florence also enjoyed bingo, playing cards, quilting, fishing and she loved being outdoors.
Left to mourn her passing is a son, Melvin (Dana) Waier of Florissant, Mo.; three daughters, Mary (Bob) Rokicki of Woodlawn, Shirley (Russell) Kopesky Jr. of Collinsville and Rita (Eugene, Jr.) Doerr of Florissant, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Schwartzkopf (Brandon Knau) of Nashville, Dawn Kopesky (Omar Monjaras) of Spanish Lake, Mo., Russell (Robyn) Kopesky of Troy, Mo., Debra (Roger) Neitzel of San Diego, Christy (Wade) Champ of Mt. Vernon, Scott Kopesky of Spanish Lake, Mo., Eugene (Amanda) Doerr III of Wentzville, Mo., John Waier (Sarah Woodard) of St. Charles, Mo., Amanda (William) Peper of Troy, Mo., Mark Waier of Los Angeles, Amy Kopesky of Florissant, Mo., and Christopher Waier of Florissant, Ni,; 16 great-grandchildren, Paige, Callie and Radyn Schwartzkopf, Sarah Curtiss, Justin, Katelynn, Melany and Samantha, Kopesky, Mya Monjaras, Lexy and Devyn Pedtke, Colby and Libby Champ, Ella and Ava Neitzel, and Gabriella Doerr; a brother, Mike (Leona) Bathon of Todds Mill; three sisters-in-law, Theresa (Milton) Kellerman, Florence Waier of McLeansboro and Virginia Bathon of Florissant, Mo.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dora (Henry) Setzekorn; three brothers, Bernard (Irene) Bathon, Paul Bathon and Eugene Bathon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Father. Dale Maxfield officiating and with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Michael Church or St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
