William 'Bill' Forsythe

---- — William D. “Bill” Forsythe, 74, of Mt. Vernon, died at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home in Mt. Vernon.

He was born Dec. 3, 1939, in Centralia, the son of William Douglas Forsythe and Fannie (Griner) Forsythe.

He is survived by two sons, Trent Forsythe and wife Carol of Mt. Vernon and Troy Forsythe and wife Stacey of Bluford; two daughters, Treva Staley and special friend Frank of Mt. Vernon and Tina Fairchild and husband Marty of Waltonville; a brother, Barry Forsythe and wife Connie of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Arlene Williams and husband Bill of Inman, S.C.; four grandchildren, Tabitha Kirkpatrick and husband Tony of Woodlawn, Josh Ellis and wife Fallon of Waltonville, Kristina Staley of Mt. Vernon and Dylan Forsythe of Bluford; three great-grandchildren, Zaylee and Laken Kirkpatrick of Woodlawn and Remington Ellis of Waltonville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and one great-great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; special friend, Donna Crocker; a son, Timothy Forsythe; and one nephew, Steve Williams.

Bill was a driller for Brehm Oil, Inc. in Mt. Vernon and later worked for Pepple Excavating. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376, Mt. Vernon Eagles Aerie Lodge 2791, Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755 (L.O.O.M.), Sons of the American Legion and the Mt. Vernon Gun & Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he played golf and was a fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with Brother Raymond Capps officiating. Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
