Fannie Margaret Harmon, 92, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:50 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on March 5, 1922, the daughter of Owen Sr. and Neoma (Gossage) Chelf. On June 24, 1939, in St. Louis, she married Forrest Harmon and he preceded her in death in 1994.
She worked for many years as supervisor of housekeeping at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and was an avid bowler.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Harmon of Indiana and Thomas Harmon of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Michael Joslin, Sandy Tolley, Cindy Mallaney, Sherry Beckmen, Tim Joslin, Margie Lopez, Ricky Harmon, Debbie Crizer, Billy Harmon, Abby Harmon, Robyn Swan, Karen Richardson, Jenny Harmon and Tracy Harmon; 27 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Ed Joslin of Mt. Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Jan Joslin and Judith Sutherlin; and three grandchildren, Bobby Harmon, Melody Harmon and Kevin Sutherlin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harmon will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday.
