Edith Ella Atchisson, 90, of Wayne City, died 1:55 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Friday, Oct. 12, 1923, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Walter Henry and Etta Ethel (Smith) Wallace. She married Edgar Atchisson, Jr. on July 18, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2007.
Edith worked at Kroger and A&P Grocery in Detroit for 21 years and later at Williamson Picture Frame Co. for 12 years until her retirement. She was a former member of Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church and currently held membership at Wayne City Baptist Church.
She is survived by niece, JoAnn Lunk and husband Bob of Waterloo; three nephews, James Klutts and wife Connie of Sharon, Tenn., Ed Wallace and wife Betty of Mulberry Grove and Larry Wallace and wife Ruby of Sorento; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Robert Lee Wallace and Walter Orvil Wallace; and two sisters, Elberta Klutts and Marie Denbo.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with the Rev. John Little officiating. Interment will be at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
